Introducing October Pink PorchesMrs. Laura Bush applauds after pushing the button to flood the north front of the White House with a sea of pink, in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, on Oct. 7, 2008. Bush addressed breast cancer survivors and advocates and members of the diplomatic corps just before the light display. The First Lady has encouraged worldwide efforts in preventing and curing a disease that is the leading cause of death in women. Each year more than 1.2 million people worldwide are diagnosed with breast cancer. The United States is working with countries in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas to empower women to take control of their health, raise awareness about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis, and support collaborative research to find a breast cancer cure. Pink Porches is an exciting new way to raise money and awareness for Breast Cancer.  In 2008, during the month of October, we are going to get Sassy and turn our lights, towns, communities, and businesses pink.   We do this to ymbolize the boldness, courage, and sass of so many women and men that fight Breast Cancer.

People across the world are encouraged to put pink ‘Sassy’ Mood-lites in their porch light or window both at home and at their place of business throughout the month of October.  Our goal is to create a beautiful environment to celebrate those that fight breast cancer, raise money for breast cancer charities and bring awareness to this disease on prevention and treatment.  Nonprofits can also buy them at a discount and raise money for their individual charities.

5% of all 2008 Sassy sales are being donated to Public Health Foundation of Northwest Illinois, a public charity, and 5% of all 2008 Sassy sales are being donated to iFred, the International, a 501 (c)3 organization that helps shine a light on depression (that is 10% total - sales not profits).
